Earthquake
Earthquakes happen all the time, except that some come with less force. In case of a big earthquake, we have a family safety kit, and a personal one for each member of my family. In the family kit we have blankets, canned food, lots of water, gasoline, scissors and knives, first aid kit, alcohol, flash lights, and extra batteries. In our personal safety kit, we individually decide what we want to put in it. My earthquake safety kit is a medium size sports bag. In it I have water, canned food, band aids, tape, scissors, a jacket, a towel, a can opener, a flash light, extra batteries, and a pomada.
Water is very important, it could be used to drink, shower, and clean an injury. I have canned food because it will last longer. I chose tuna because you can eat it raw and it fills you up. I also put some cans of fruit and vegetables. Don't forget your can opener, it will make the opening can process much easier. I have band aids to cover up minor injuries and prevent an infection. Even though we have a better equipped first aid kit in the family safety kit,it's always good to have extras. I decided to put tape, because it might come in handy. Scissors could not only be used as a tool but also as a weapon. If you need to cut something, scissors will make it much easier, or if you need to protect yourself scissors “0could help. A towel because it could be used as a blanket, and it's not as heavy. It could also be used as clothing if needed, and this is where tape comes in handy, you can tape the towel to your body, that way it won't fall. Or the towel could be used as a mattress, that way if you sleep on the floor, you have something to sleep on top of. Your body will be warmer and cleaner this way. A jacket to keep me warm at night. A flash light is very important because your city might be without electricity for days, therefore you also need extra batteries. Lastly a pomada because it heals injuries and pain very quickly, and it also disinfects them.
We placed our safety kits inside a little garage outside our house, because is very fragile and if it falls it wont damage the kits. It is best to place your kits outside your home so you can have them ready on the go, also because your house might fall down and damage the kit. Well, now you know what I have in my safety kit. Hope this gives you an idea on how to prepare for an earthquake and what to have on your own safety kit. Remember to put your essentials, water, food, flash light with extra batteries, first aid kit, and gasoline because in cases like this your supermarket will run out.
In case of an earthquake my family and I will run to the middle of the patio, where there's nothing surrounding us. In case a big earthquake hits, and we're not home and we can't communicate we will meet in the corner of our street.
